More challenges

so a normal fort is fun and all but the challenges are where its really at.

And i believe with all the new features we should think up some more ways to have "fun"

For your first challenge, I challenge you to complete a single post of at least 2 sentences with correct punctuation and capitalisation. Currently you're 0/8 :P.

For your next challenge, go and plant a forest in hell. It needs more flowers down there.
Note: I have no idea if this is actually possible. What happens to muddy ground in hell? If it doesn't grow, what happens if you cast obsidian and make it muddy?

Cast obsidian can be farmed on (which is awesome).

So we got monsters above, monsters below, dwarves in the middle and a party in the dining hall. Sounds good to me.
If all else fails, remember one thing:  kittens are delicious, nutritious little goblin-baiters, cavern explorers, and ambush-finders.

Mmmm...Hell flowers.

I should think that a tastefully arranged bed of sweet pod red and quarry bush grey would lighten the mood a little.

Make sky diving pets, from heaven above.
Atleast 400 high in the air.

Make your fort a model of your place of work/education.

Attempt to capture (in cages) every single trader that comes to the fort. When their civilizations wage war, attempt to capture all their soldiers as well. You cannot kill a single trader/soldier, nor can you let any get away.

I modded in a civilization of flying, buildingdestroyer:2 orc things, who should hopefully be able to use bronze or steel.  Also I embarked on a glacier.  We will see how that goes.

Heaven to Hell:

Build a tower to the maximum z-level (on a mountain map for extra height, remove the mountain) with your fortress at the top (aside from the trade depot). Make the fortress out of cast obsidian, entirely self-sufficient (Remember to bring plenty of supplies for moods!) with water and magma pumped up from the ground.

Give every dwarf their own bedroom of smoothed/engraved obsidian. Have a variety of crops in farming areas, and as much fancy architecture as possible.

When ready, send one lone miner down to hell and breach it, and then seal the stairwell/ramps.

Last as long as possible against the flying threats, and then battle your way down the tower.

Optional: include a self-destruct lever that will drop the entire fortress onto the breach, sealing it again.  Reclaim and build to the top once more.

Bonus points: Make the tower and suspended fortress out of wood, and refer to it as Yggdrasil.

I challenge you to make Hell Freeze Over.

I'm guessing you will probably have to use a cave-in to expose Hell to the surface, then drop water in it until it all freezes.

Currently Building: Purplesaber (pit mine/anthill/80 z-level wound in the earth)

Former Projects: Roughnesschants(multi-level aboveground city)

Best summary of Dwarf Fortress:
I'm fairly certain every path in the game leads to some sort of massive execution.

This is impossible.
