Down to the wire

I just had a guy save my entire fortress by building a one block wall while demons barreled down the hallway behind him, sealing himself in. He then turned and charged the demon and was promptly rekt, but his slab is in its own memorial hall now. o7 hero.

Anyone else have these kind of moments? Like really, this guy saved 120 dwarves and my entire fort by being a few ticks fast enough. Legendary.

I've had this happen twice, in point of fact. It seems that Dwarves intuitively build things in the most dangerous manner possible.

Yeah I agree, but this guy really did single handedly save everyone so he's a hero, not a dumbass in the history books.

Back at Doomforests my turn happened to involve a rampaging minotaur. One rather unskilled laborer managed to wrestle the beast to death while the drawbridge was raised. It was probably the most astoudingly unexpected thing to happen my turn, and I wish I was a better writer since my logs didn't do it justice.

Some dwarves really lay down their lives for the fortress, though they don't have much of a choice most of the time.

Build him a fancy tomb!
