Ever-present extremely long hair
« on: December 28, 2015, 08:38:32 am »

Has anyone else noticed that whenever you create a human adventurer, he has, in both random-modes, always extremely long hair, with some optional adjectives?
Is it a hmm... feature or simply a not-yet extended element of the adventurer creation?

I noticed that 1050 years of history didn't produce any barbers.

1. Hair grows with age
2. Nobody outside of a dwarf gets their hair cut
3. Therefore everyone has long hair

But extremely long? Everyone with extremely long hair? I haven't had more than a trim in 11 years, and my hair isn't extremely long.

It's basically that outside of dwarves none of the entities have assigned hairstyles, so they don't know to cut their hair. It's very easy to mod back in, though I wish it was officially taking all hairstyles until civ-appropriate styles have been invented...

I hope there is going to be a workshop dedicated to hairdressing and some other aesthetic stuff.

Urist McGloriousLeader can mandate that everyone wears the same hairstyle as them! :D

That would be interesting with a animal person as leader to mandate everyone to have their head clean shaved... and then We would have a šAccidentš when He/She mandate a massive beard shaving campaing.

You have to add some tags into each civilizations entity files to give them differing hair styles and hair lengths.
Here's the code, slightly modified from the Dwarf civ raws:
[TISSUE_STYLE:HAIR]
                [TS_MAINTAIN_LENGTH:0:100]
      [TS_PREFERRED_SHAPING:STANDARD_HAIR_SHAPINGS]
   [TISSUE_STYLE:SIDEBURNS]
                [TS_MAINTAIN_LENGTH:0:100]
      [TS_PREFERRED_SHAPING:STANDARD_SIDEBURNS_SHAPINGS]
   [TISSUE_STYLE:MOUSTACHE]
      [TS_MAINTAIN_LENGTH:0:100]
      [TS_PREFERRED_SHAPING:STANDARD_MOUSTACHE_SHAPINGS]
   [TISSUE_STYLE:BEARD]
      [TS_MAINTAIN_LENGTH:0:100]
      [TS_PREFERRED_SHAPING:STANDARD_BEARD_SHAPINGS]

DFWiki has some other values for the [TS_PREFERRED_SHAPING] tag, you should check the Entity Tokens article on there. The [TS_MAINTAIN_LENGTH] one I don't know if its actually working, but AFAIK the 0 is supposed to be the minimum length and the 100 is supposed to be the maximum length.
