Seal them into the walls of your fortress as a congratulatory warning to your citizens. All they need is a 1x1 alcove bricked over and they will gradually lose their sanity but retain their flesh for eons. It will bring luck and the tang of victory.

Do be aware that the transformation heals wounds, so it's possible that the perfectly healthy and unwounded dude who inexplicably regrew his missing arm recently is, in fact, a werebeast.

Yup, Learned that the hard way. It might have still been O.K. though, still had about 30 "healthy" idiots dwarfs after the last full moon. Alas, my downfall was teeth. My dwarfs kept getting smashed so completely that their teeth would scatter everywhere and apparently the dwarfs insist that EACH AND EVERY TOOTH HAS ITS OWN SPOT IN THE CORPSE STOCKPILE. And so my second larger pile that I made filled much quicker than expected. By the time I noticed the issue my poor idiots citizens had been driven insane by the combination of blood-soaked fortress surfaces, the piles of corpses scattered through every inch of the fortress (not to mention the TEETH that are still EVERYWHERE!) and the resulting miasma. So of course everything quickly devolved into a tangled mess of dwarf on dwarf violence. Alas, the might fortress of "Tintactic" has fallen.
