From what I can tell taverns essentially broke relationship building which will hopefully be fixed. It would be nifty if dwarves became aware of their marital status and actually sought a spouse as opposed to it being a clunky random event.

For all their new depth it baffles me that relationship desires were essentially left out...some dwarfs value friendships and relationships more than others and some have life goals to raise families...but they don't seem to actively persue relationships on their own like you would expect a hopeless romantic might.

A small meeting area does work it just takes a lot longer - about 5 to 10 years to form marriages as opposed to 3 to 6 months with the pre honeymoon suites. Make it no bigger than 8 X 8 and have statues in the middle 4 squares to forces the dwarves together.

Yeah the trick is to lock them in somewhere where they literally have no other option but to socialize with each other. Otherwise they will go about their lives doing everything but.

My previous experience is that the honeymoon suites work the fastest and are the best overall.

Sure its kind of a fixed marriage thing but it definitely works if they haven't already taken a lover or spouse previously and they are compatible gender wise. If you are playing on 40.xx, there are other DFhack commands you can use to clear the relationships status or change their gender orientation to make them compatible, and there is one script I am aware of that can force 2 dwarves to instantly get married.

So, you might want to hold out until DFhack comes along for 42.xx if that's what you are playing on.

I was already looking forward to the next DFHack just for the cleaning function. So much blood and vomit everywhere, and no one seems to clean it.....

This time of year you should just think of blood and vomit as red and green holiday decorations.

Have them killed. Nothing solves a problem quite as effectively as simply having it killed.
