Awwww. I must have missed the change that made this possible. I can't be the first to see it happen. (Yes, I at least tried to search the forums. I'm sure there's a post to this effect out there somewhere.)

On the plus side, has anyone noticed different combat results for hair and heads and other  hard-to-destroy undead?

Tbh, this is probably unrealistic. You can blend sponges and they will reconstitute themselves over time, assuming there are still enough cells intact. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N462jZFr13k
