Instrument forging
« on: December 02, 2015, 11:33:22 pm »

I'm not sure if this is up anywhere yet but I figured I'd try putting together a quick list of where what part of instruments are forged, since I keep losing track of them.

Also what are some of these names.

- Arkoth keyboard
- Azkob body, keyboard
- Dakal drum
- Dishmab drum
- Emar console, pipes
- Emgash body, strings
- Lashed strings
- Nimar console
- Orstist (made outright)
- Umshad keyboard, strings, case

Kiln:
- Amkin body
- Lashed sound-chest
- Mistem melody pipe
- Nimar keyboard, pipes
- Ozor yoke

Leather Works
- Azkob bellows
- Dakal head
- Dishmad head
- Emar bellows
- Mistem bellows, bag
- Nimar bellows

Metalsmith's Forge
- Amkin frame
- Arkoth strings
- Emar keyboard
- Lashed yoke

Protip: statues cannot be made out of wood unless they're artifacts. If you see what appears to be a wooden statue outside your fort and it's not an artifact, destroy it immediately.

They're procedurally generated, so the names are just random. Where parts are made will probably be different between worlds, too. It depends on the material involved.

I posted this over in Paper-Making 101, but I glanced at some of the buildings and found where things were (at least on my world's save). Basically speaking, instrument piece wise it looks like they could be made from the following:
Glass (Glass Furnace), Ceramic (Kiln), Metal (Forge), Stone (Mason's/Craftdwarf's?), Leather (Leatherworks) and Wood (Craftdwarf's?). Edit according to raws: Bone (Craftdwarf's?)
Well the Instruments themselves were made in the:
(Magma) Glass Furnace, (Magma) Kiln, and Craftdwarf's Workshop.

NOTE: I only tested Magma variants, did not build the non-magma types.

Here are the workshops I tested, and what was new in them (has bookcase, book bindings, scroll rollers, quire, scroll, bind book, quicklime, sheet, and parchment locations listed as well.
Spoiler: Sorted by Workshop (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Sorted by Item (click to show/hide)

Edit: Also, glancing at the example instrument raws (for moding in specific custom instruments), looks like it can also be made out of bone.

That shouldn't be an issue.  (Not personally tested)

When something isn't quite dorfy enough, just add magma.

Stone and wood stuff all seems to be at the Craftdwarf's Workshop, I don't see anything music related at the carpenter or mason shops.

Non-magma versions work fine, I haven't made magma depth on my current fort yet but made things at the kiln just fine.
