Author Topic: Generating a "Medium" World with a 500 year history and NOT in Age of Myth?  (Read 777 times)

For some reason, the only "age" I ever get when I use a world larger than "Small" is the age of myth, and it makes for very little !FUN! on larger worlds.

On smaller world, it's much harder to simply find a spot to embark at that has anything of value that isn't already occupied, unless I reduce the number of civs (which often results in no playable races).

Ideally, I would like a world with a standard number of civs, a medium (128x128) world, and a 500-510 year history so any dragons and such have a chance to be fully grown by the time I can play in it with lots of chances to be attacked and invaded.

Any suggestions on what I might want to do in the advanced generation to get this?

Seems to be stuck in the Age of Myth for most standard world-gen's right now.
What exactly is not !Fun! about the Age of Myth? Just means there's hundreds of beasts all over the place, doesn't it?

The vanilla raws have dragons at full size at year 1000.

Also I'm not sure if dragons have any size other than their year 0 size and their year 1000 size.

You could just change the raws to suit the set up you want.

They grow evenly from their 0-year size to their 1000-year size.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

It's supposed to mean there's 2/3 of them left; but it doesn't feel like enough. Typically, they're just not a challenge other than being in numbers whilst in Adventure mode, as well. The civs appear to war mostly with other civs than the monsters, and the monsters tend to stay away from the civs unless there are so many at worldgen they are forced to get tough or die (at which point, I retry the world gen).

So, yeah... It's !FUN! but it could be !FUNNER! :P Making a small world with a single badass mofo who terrorizes the world is easy; I would love to see it happen in a much larger world. And then kick his ass.
