Random Shrine cluster [Slight spoiler I guess?]
« on: October 28, 2015, 12:28:20 pm »

So I genned a medium region using the advanced parameters, slightly changing some things like getting rid of bogeymen for worry-free adventuring.
I loaded up Legends Viewer on it to check locations of some sites, and when I was checking shrines I noticed that most (9 out of 12 total) of them were in the same place. In the north-western corner of the map.
I didn't mess with anything to do with titans in world gen so I'm not sure what caused this.
Side note: the glacier south of it is swarming with Yeti lairs

Curiously, the three titans that are not in this cluster are all Bronze Colossi, and there are no Bronze Colossi in the cluster.
The titans that do lurk there are as follows: 2 Mountain Titans, 2 Hill Titans, a Sand Titan, Marsh Titan, Forest Titan, Savanna Titan and a Swamp Titan
Clearly, their natural habitat is not in a Tundra, so I've come to the conclusion that the shrines were generated as usual throughout the world, and then somehow teleported to the top left corner

Also this is the view of the shrines in-game on the travel screen (kind of resembles a crossbow doesn't it?)

I ran into that one time as well.  Genned a huge world with the max number of titans and, somehow, the majority of them wound up in the North-West Corner of the map.  So many that often, when my adventurer would kill one, a few minutes later another titan would spawn in the old titan's shrine.

I tried to clear it out with a demigod maxed-stats necromancer adventurer, using an army of raised Titans to kill them, but gave up after a while.  The weather was constant snow-storm, the adventurer couldn't see 3 tiles away, new titans continued to claim already-cleared shrines, and any webbing titan I saw still webbed my adventurer 1 turn after being seen and head-shot her the turn after.

I wonder what causes all those shrines to spawn in the top left corner of the world...

It sure looks like a bug in their placement code to me; it's trying to place them out of valid coordinate range, resulting in a rollover to 0,0.

Bronze colossi, being that they're not randomly generated, would probably have a slightly different iteration of the method, and that one works, I guess.

I can also confirm that when I added dragons/hydras to shrines (since they're boring in lairs) and they spawn around the map, titans almost exclusively spawn up in the top left world tile.

Is your world rectangular, rather than square, by any chance?

I could look at that for hours without realising that it's looping :D. And then I would still watch it.

don't take the above seriously. This is actually a pretty helpful group of people. Welcome to the insane asylum.
