Furniture Stockpiles are not being hauled to
« on: October 19, 2015, 04:06:41 pm »

I can't figure out what's going on with my stockpiles. They were all working well, but suddenly all of the furniture stockpiles are not accepting anything and I've got minecarts and sandbags and cabinets just sitting in their workshops or wherever they last were left. They're accepting from anywhere and I've even removed a few of the stockpiles and re-placed them, but nothing seems to get the stuff moving. Anyone have any insights?

Usually that's caused by all the dorfs finding more interesting tasks. Clearing out workshops seems to be very near the bottom of the job importance list. Try to ease up on other hauling (especially large stockpiles accepting stones without wheelbarrows, as those can soak up a lot of haulers for long times as they SLOWLY move boulders.

If you're using DFHack there's a plugin that allows you to name stuff (like animals and stockpiles) through CTRL-Shift-n. This can be used to name your stockpiles so you can see on the jobs list what stockpiles your dorfs are hauling stuff to (if you're using vanilla you can achieve the same thing through the stockpile numbers, so if you see 20 hauling jobs to stockpile #54 you might want to find out what that one is. You can use the rooms list to find stockpiles, zoom to them, and thus understand which one it is, if you don't want to hunt around querying each in turn).

The first thing to do is to make sure a reasonable number of dorfs are idle for real (i.e. not just between jobs) for some time. If that's the case, you may have a problem (but it can take a surprisingly long time for a large number of idle dorfs to pick up the neglected job you want them to perform).

Much Thanks! I knew it must be something simple and to tell the truth I didn't even know that was an option. I must have fat-fingered it at some point. The furniture is flowing again.
