Unable to Brew
« on: October 17, 2015, 06:57:59 pm »

I am playing an unmodded game of Dwarf Fortress, and for some reason my dwarves refuse to brew any drinks. I have empty barrel(s) that aren't forbidden, plenty of plump helmets, and a dwarf with brewing enabled as his only labor. For some reason I cannot brew any drinks. When I enter the still with 'q', the option to brew drinks shows up, but is red. When I select it, everything is white, except for the text "Takes place at still." at the bottom. Does anybody know a solution?

I seem to have this issue from time to time. I've found that mass dumping (d b d) everything to a one pile garbage dump nearby, barrels and food, then reclaiming them (d b c) will get the dwarves moving again. I think it has something to do with plants being stored in barrels glitching out sometimes...

Also if you're using DFhack, you might've set a low range for drink production, so that could also be it. But yeah, the dump and reclaim should do it, I think.

I just had a "lord consort" visit and decide to stay. Preparing for Trojan war reenactment.
Protip: statues cannot be made out of wood unless they're artifacts. If you see what appears to be a wooden statue outside your fort and it's not an artifact, destroy it immediately.
