Will updating not let you play your older forts?
« on: September 14, 2015, 06:50:02 am »

New updates came out in September and my Lazy noob pack is telling me that I can update, but it will delete the old one...Does that mean my Forts too?

I'm pretty sure it just means you'll lose all your LNP settings. Any save after v40.03 should be compatible with the current version.

Bumber is correct. I've updated LNP and continued. The next DF version is probably not going to be backwards compatible, though.

With LNP, just download it and then run the script (on the top directory level) to copy your save over. After that you'll have to redo the PyLNP tweaks (pop caps, water depth, tools to use, DFHack plugins, etc). Also, if you've modified the announcements (e.g. to skip halting and zooming whenever a dwarflet is born) you'll have to redo those as well (given that the underlying DF version is the same, it OUGHT to work to just copy it over [but save the original just in case if you do]).
