Tannerite instead of ballistas/catapults?
« on: August 22, 2015, 01:46:52 pm »

Imagine firing a shell or something like the ballista, and on impact it explodes which gets rid of grass, makes smoke and can tear things like trees down. Also possibly make holes.

Just an idea.. Imagine having booby traps for goblin invaders and then seeing it as if it's D-Day impossible for them to cross, and all you see is a bunch of flying goblin parts. Seems like !!FUN!! to me.

With magma mines, crossbow dwarves and fortifications this is doable. Exploding munitions are considerably more work.
You could craft a mineral or stone whose sublimation temperature is room temperature aboveground but solid underground (making this mineral very unstable and dangerous to use, though for an explosive simulator that's appropriate) and when inhaled or comes into contact with any living thing causes horrible, horrendous death in one way or another (such as transforming a creature into another creature which promptly implodes). Then load up these boulders in a catapult firing the unstable mineral and as soon as the boulder stops flying through the air: Mineral explosion
