Pregenerated worlds don't work?
« on: August 28, 2006, 12:14:00 am »

I was curious what was in them so I tried downloading these (http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/worlds.html).  I have 2 of my own worlds in my save folder (region1/region2; region1 is active, region2 was what I was playing around with adventurer mode but retired my latest one).  When I do "Start playing" it lists the name of my region2 world and if I up-arrow or down-arrow the region2 world un-highlights but no other names are listed.  I guess it is supposed to list all the available worlds to play in, but it isn't doin that.  I haven't tried just hitting enter while it is on one of the invisible selections; don't know what that would do.

Two things to check:

-Did the pregenerated world have the same -region number as one of your other worlds? That causes problems.

-Check to see whether the folder hierarchy that you have extracted the pregenerated world into matches that of the other worlds. Sometimes decompression softwares create an extra layer of folder which could be confusing the game.

Yes, I already knew about both of those.  They're not it.

I seem to remember some of the older worlds not displaying their names properly.  Maybe the pre-gen worlds are having this issue.  I'll take a look at it and have it improvise names if necessary.
