feeding the young ones
« on: August 07, 2015, 06:55:31 am »

my current fort have startet the never ending cycle of breeding useless pests, but i thought it might be rewarding to store them somewhere out of harms way, until they reach an age where i can put armor on them and push them in front of some goblins :3 so i have decided to make a kindergarten. My plan is to brick the kids in individually, when they reach childhood, along with 12 years worth of food and booze. acording to the wiki, a dwarf only eats 8 units of food pr year (2 pr season) but i cant really make sense of that, can anyone confirm that? :) also i cant really find much on how often they drink, is that the same?
i realize that this might lock away a great deal of my supplies, but i think it is worth it. i usually end up with almost half the fort being kids anyways, and when migration stops due to high population, raising my own dwarfs might come in handy in the long run~
any thoughts or advice? :) or answers to my questions? xD

Welcome to Dwarf Fortress. Where peaceful death of old age is something nobody sees coming.
it turns out Dog Bone Doctors aren't very good at doctoring.
