Why my hunter doesn't hunt

Hi all!

Why my hunter doesn't hunt a crab? He killed a lot of animals before, crab in the accessible area, he has crossbow and quiver with some bolts, but the game tells me that he has no job at all in the units screen.

What's wrong?

It could be any number of things, but I don't know enough to know which thing it is specifically...

Is the crab underwater? That could possibly be stopping him.

Impulse from seeing the thread title:

Urist McNorris is a hunter, but Urist McNorris does not hunt. "Hunting" would imply the possibility of failure!

It seems that hunters eventually but out and stop hunting despite having bolts assigned and hunt able critters on the map. The only hunters I currently have are new migrants. No idea why.
