Necro fort!
« on: July 01, 2015, 09:56:33 pm »

So, with the advent of libraries fer our forts, do ye think toady will be adding the capability to obtain a necromantic text, and use it to turn yer populace into immortal servants of death?

I can envision so many ways a necromancer fort will unfold, think about the circus and other attacking necros : P

And with the planned hill dwarves update..

I am salivating involuntarily at all these delicious thoughts!

Oh so toady hinted at something like this in tfotf thread, with scrholars gaining the powers upon studying the text.

I do hope hell be able to implement this, dwarven necromancy will truly be terrifying with the sciences that players tend to employ.

Thing is, we've already done necro forts. The vampire blood well, necro bacon, ravens vs clowns, etc. A similar number of stories turn up in adventurer mode too.

Libraries will be an exciting feature yes, but not so much because of necromancy.

Congrats, Psieye. This is the first time I've seen a derailed thread get put back on the rails.

Now I'm envisioning a fort sections into 4 quarters: Normals, Vampires, Necros, and Were-beasts.

But wait, there's more!  Aren't the new Animal People end up becoming citizens of civilizations?  Can we now expect Peace-faced Dove men and women migrating into our fort too?

Perhaps, yes, but I would rather raise the goblins that sieged me using my own dwarves and then use them as a permanent defense while my magically enhanced bearded folk focus on subduing vulcan and the spawn of tartarus with various machines of great complexity.

Sure its fun to use the magic of others for yer own ends, but its much more satisfying to feel it flow through yer veins while you watch the world burn around you.
