Dangerous channels

My grand master miner drowned while digging a channel 5 minutes ago, quite unlucky guy...

A good way to prevent this is to build then unbuild a floodgate next to the river/magma tile. This creates a channel, and your miner will be safe from bodily harm.

What I do is make the floodgate, open it with a lever, and then destroy the lever.

I don't ever connect channels directly to the cave river or magma flow. It's just too dangerous.

(And I've never seen anything destroy my floodgates, though probably I've just been lucky to never have a map with magma men)
