Masrony Beds

I just had a moody dwarf make a native gold bed at a mason's workshop.  Is this rare?

Masrony sounds like a pasta. (Masrony and cheese, art made out of Masrony, etc)

I believe Metalsmithers can make a random item, and that this is drawn from all possible items including ones only usually made with other materials. So essentially, you have an even chance to get anything.

It's not made from gold, but from native gold.
Which in RL is pretty much the same thing, but in DF are two different materials. Native gold is an ore, gold the metal smelted from it.
It all depends on the highest skill of the dwarf with the mood - a mason will always use some kind of stone or ore and make a piece of furniture out of it.
Stonecrafters and woodcrafters will make useless toys out of stone and wood respectively.
Bonecrafters, jewelers and glassmakers can create useless trinkets or furniture made from bones and gems. Weapons and armor can also be made from bones.

You should use the bed for your baron/count/duke or a dwarf you like.
It should be quite valuable, after all.

Items produced by moody dwarfs are random enough that almost nothing is "rare" - it's all been seen, and more than once.

But a non-wood bed is indeed atypical. Do something special with it.

Had a fort where after about 200 years, i had more than 10 artifact beds (only 2 were wood). 1 went to each of my nobles. And the remaining ones I had strewn about the fort in random areas that a dwarf could take and sleep in (trying to avoid the whole, room envy BS)

My Baroness LOVES beds.  And bucklers.  I can't export either, and I have constant mandates to make them.  I made her a 20x20 room.  She can sleep in the artifact bed in the center, or one of the other beds.  And she has both an artifact armor stand and an artifact weapon rack.  And I designated her entire room as a pasture, because she likes pigs for their snouts of course.  Maybe if I stockpile all the bucklers in her room, she'll stop making me produce them.

Not rare, her second artifact bed is being installed soon.

And she's adopted 16 of her pigs as pets (so far)!  She has her own entourage now!
