I mean countermissiles and point defense being separate. Two different forms of anti-missile.

It also occurred to me that calculating engagement windows will be a serious pain in the ass.

That would drive ship cost up even higher. Heh.

Are you guys willing to accept not very great math?

I have been using this for distance:

And this for velocity used in that. I don't know if I was clear on this, but sidereal space has a speed limit of 0.8c and a hyper velocity max of 0.6c.

Well, a quick question before we go further: Is anyone else still interested in this? Because it's been just me and Ross for the last while...

I'd be slightly annoyed, but at least I'd definitely have something to sprig on people when they forgot.

... With this much effort spent I'm going to at least do *something* with it before giving up entirely. Even if it's just a duel between a pair of ships in blankspace, it'd make for a fun bit of fiction.

I did 2d6+1d12, and got 180. Well then... Aristocrat background so it's 200.

For fun, let's see what sort of sub-fleet Commodore Count Vernal would bring in.

Personal Armed Yacht VMF Astra
HP:  27.5
Captain: Commodore Vernal, Aristocrat (Marines +4, Weaponry +5%)
Missile/Hit/Counter: 10.5/25/11
Energy/Hit/Sidewall:  23/60/11
Sensors: 6
EW/ECW: 4.5%
Marine: 50+10 Armsmen
Accel/Hyper: 400/Eta
Cost: 75.5
Corvette Missile Armament
Light Cruiser Energy Armament
Light Cruiser Drive
Luxury 2
Rift Huge Sensor 5
Rift Huge EW 4
Supplies 4

Fast Courier VMF Flash
HP: 5
Captain: Drive Engineer
Sensors: 3
Accel/Hyper:870/Iota
Cost: 20
Luxury 1
Supplies 2

Light Cruiser Ariel
Captain: Allen Desplains, Flight Engineer
Exec:
HP:
missile/hit/countermissile:
energy/hit/sidewall:
sensors:
ew/ecw:
marine:
accel
cost

I had numbers, but energy heavy and loaded with countermissiles because it's a convoy protection ship. There'd be just enough money left over to pay for the logistics of two months of operation, or about that 20bc earlier from the Aristocrat background.

Background on fleet: The Vernal Mercenary Fleet mostly makes money from neutral trans-stellar insurance contracts, in which they ride herd on insured convoys to protect from pirates, although it's been quietly used as a system defense force and a wormhole blockader a few times on behalf of the CoM. Between contracts, the Yacht serves as a passenger liner for wealthy, paranoid individuals interested in traveling to less-than-safe locations in style, while the Courier mostly couriers data and expensive perishables.

Well, I tried. :/

*disappointed sigh*

I'm just going to go on hiatus for a while, because out of the three games I like to run out of the four I have, I'm still writer blocked on one, the other was barely surviving, and one person with actual interest isn't really enough to get it going. Guess I'm losing my touch. Later, folks. I'll be back probably in a few weeks or a month whenever I get over my inability to write Adventuring Party.

And to think there was something like 11 people wanting to play at first. :\

Yeah, that's a lot of it. Like at least 60% of it.

Maybe I should have just made the cat game. Probably wouldn't have lasted either.

Actually, Ross, I think if you changed the title to something like 'game ready to start' then they might notice and come back.

Please?
