Basically you do this by going back on your decision to update. If you've already reserved once your computer will still be in the files, so you can download later (plus the free upgrade option is good until like mid-2017). Here's the basic steps.

Personally I'm going to probably be waiting till at least January or so before updating, enough time for them to file off the rough edges and get their shit together after the rushed release (which they are making excellent steps towards), and to ensure that my boot camped mac will actually properly support Windows 10 and they aren't going to break it immediately. (In particular I don't want to be forced to install every single update like it currently does, because that's a good way for Windows to mess up my bootcamp installation by installing stupid drivers that don't work with my mac hardware).

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

It's the same for software - all software that ran on Windows 7 or 8 should run on 10. It's even the same for drivers...
I haven't been able to run xcom enemy unknown on 10, but that's the only incompatibility I've run into. It was definitely the os that is causing the problem too, because i was playing xcom, stopped to update to 10 and then couldn't launch xcom, not data loss, I reinstalled.

hmm... for what it's worth, my dell laptop works much better under windows 10 than it did under 8.1

I have used Windows 10 for PC basically since they contacted me to update, it is great, there is no worry that things won't be optimized for it because nearly everything is and compared to iTunes Groove Music is great.
