Salvagable?
« on: May 01, 2015, 09:16:48 pm »

I'm trying to salvage a 50+ years old infertile fort.

It was an old save with a population cap of 21. There were only 2 possible pairs among them, but they were all too old. Do you think it is possible to get them married beofre anyone died from old age?

Edit*

Very small, high-value dining hall, with a burrow allowing only the two you want to hook up in it?  I seem to recall that working for someone recently.

Yeah, I'm trying (very small bedrooms next to each other surrounded by extremely high-valued statues). I'll give them 1 year before trying another way.

I never dealt with old dwarves like them before (Do not dream of raising a family and don't care about anything anymore).

I don't think the bedrooms will help, you need close-quarters meeting areas where they can socialize.

I'm following this method:

Use Loci's speed-dating method outlined here: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=144945.msg6028634#msg6028634

It worked in another fort. So I assume if I remove all meeting halls/zones, dwarves will "socialize" in their own bedrooms.

The problem is, none of those dwarves in this fort dreams of raising a family. I don't know if this is essential.

That will ensure a steady supply of offspring, but without two (2) more married couples, you lack adequate diversity to continue indefinitely, you will need more dwarves at some point.
