Is there a way to de-hostile a hotile 'pet'.
« on: April 04, 2015, 03:59:46 pm »

So my dwarves captured and tamed a dragon. Hooray! The problem is, while trying to move it to a more awesome cage, the handler dropped the 'leash' as it were and the dragon decided to run around my fort before I noticed, but after I had saved.

Now, the dragon never killed anyone before hitting the cage traps, but my military is going after it every time and I can't figure out a way to save the poor thing in hopes of starting a breeding program.

Also, it seems like now that I've tamed it, cage traps won't work on it, so I'm at a loss as to what to do. Is there a way, even with df hack to make it not hostile so my military won't murder it anymore?

I don't think there is a way, but if there is, I'm using it on my pet roc.

I ended up solving the 'him being killed' problem by using gui/gm-editor in dfhack to teleport him into my cage lines, then changing the tame and active invader tags. He marauded into a trap, then my duchess grabbed him and dragged him to the steel cage.

Now he's untrained, but I imagine he'll still be hostile if let out.

First thought: Murder it hard. Death is the best debuff.

Second Thought: Lock it in a room with a mate, remove the babies. They should not be hostile.

My roc can't have babies because there are only male rocs in this world and that makes me sad.

you could turn it into biscuits and roasts. I don't think food can be hostile in this game yet.

Which version are you using, because I was under the impression that the friendly-unit cage trap bug had been fixed.  :o

Ever embarked on a terrifying biome?

Food is some of the most lethal stuff there if you aren't careful and/or a vegetarian
