Making a custom creature

Well I am completely new to the raws of dwarf fortress and i was wondering if its possible to create a custom creature and if so how. also when adding tags to creatures where should i put the tags, at the front at the end or somewhere in the middle?

It is totally possible. take a look at the wiki, it is your friend. This page here walks you through the basics of modding. Oh, and welcome to modding Dwarf fortress.
