Don't forget you can shear trolls to get troll hair yarn, from which you can make troll hair cloth.

Looking at the raw entry for Troll on the DF wiki, it appears to lack both [PET] and [TRAINABLE] tags, so it looks like by default you can't.  That, however, can be easily fixed through some mild editing.  Just add the [TRAINABLE] tag somewhere in the [CREATURE:TROLL] entry.  I'd put it right after the [CHILD:10] tag, myself.

Just make sure to add it to the raws in your data/save/regionN/raw directory (instead of DF_dir/raw) or you will have to regenerate the world to get the change to take effect.

The [TRAINABLE] token just makes the creature war and hunting trainable once tamed, [PET] is the one that makes them tameable.

There once was a dwarf in a cave,

he went out for a sock,
his ass I won't bother to save.

I thought TRAINABLE implied PET (or in this case, PET_EXOTIC)?

If troll is sentient, is marriage required for reproduction? It's difficult to get them married, as they never speak.

Yes, actually. I've tried some slightly modded goblin embarks and trolls do not have children. They do, however, wear clothes if you bring them on embark or buy them from a caravan.

Its a feature. Impregnating booze is a planned tech tree for dwarves and this is a sneak peek at it.
Unless you're past reproductive age. Then you're pretty much an extension of your kids' genitalia
