As an alternative to carving a table or statue in the mason's workshop, have them carve it directly from the cave walls (just as they would to make a staircase). Maybe this kind of furniture would be stationary and instead of having it deconstructed you'd have to 'mine' it and destroy it in the process. Why not?

Now here's a few dwarves carving the walls to make tables and thrones:


So that's basically my idea.

It's a cool idea that has been suggested a few times times before.

Searched for carve furniture.

Suggests dwarves could prefer this kind of furniture.
Also mentions carving shelves into walls and catacomb like niches for bodies that would only be accessible from one side (like how engravings are only on one side of a wall).
Mostly about carving rough low value beds in this way.
Same guy again, but added the idea of smoothing and otherwise improving them like with walls.
Similar, but you have a quarry area designated and the dwarves would cart the finished furniture away when carved.
Seems same as above.
