Hi, I just got the new update, since I haven't played in about a year, I need to know how to climb trees because I like going up places like trees and I can't figure out how to....so...yeah, help please?

You catch something with [h]. You need free hands for this (use [p] to put things in backpacks or [q] to strap your weapons/shield to your body so they are not in the way).
Once you are hanging in something, use standard movement keys to  try to climb in that direction. You will often get a list of option (north, north/up, north/down) combined with various things to try to catch (catch here, catch north...) so pick one option.
With enough skill you will move that way. If you do not pass that check, you start falling in selected direction though you often have a chance to try to catch other things while falling down.

P.S.: You can also get up trees when you stop travelling world map in forested area. Sometimes.
