Military dorfs don't want to replace worn clothes
« on: February 02, 2015, 07:08:31 pm »

I'm using replace clothing. But it seems they don't replace those worn pieces like the civs do, despite there are tons of spare clothes.
Suggestions?

"Soldier not replacing worn clothing that's part of his uniform" is a known bug.

It's also possible that you happened to assign "specific armor/helm/glove" to them.

Not specific.
But yeah, they are uniforms.

Would assigning uniform with no items listed (or just one weird thing) help there?

I'm pretty sure if you did this (and chose to replace items) then they'd wander around naked complaining about their nakedness.

Yes. And once they are naked, switch their squad back to your desired uniform. That way their old garments should be changed to new set.

What I did was removing all the trousers/cloaks/hoods/mittens/socks.
It is a bit annoying that I have to do it periodly.

But maybe I don't need those cloth garments? How much extra protection can they provide?

For me the real question would be: Does worn clothing protect less than new clothing? If it does, then there is significant reason to replace worn clothing in a timely manner. But if not, I'd personally just let the old clothing rot away while being worn, they should pick up another piece after that. Only downside would be the negative thoughts generated by this.
