Gladgrave, the Temple of Bones

In which the death cult of Oce Cleanblossoms, the Future of Phantoms, establishes a religious centre devoted to collecting and interring the dead of all sapient races - whether they like it or not.

In the eighty years since the world was made, the Confederation of Stabbing has risen to power in leaps and bounds.  Now, with the blessing of the other temples and the direct mandate of Oce Cleanblossoms, the Future of Phantoms, goddess of death, birth and rebirth, her most devout followers in the Confederation have set forth to build a temple in her honour.

All seven of them.  More will come, they are sure, and fill the ranks of labourers needed to erect this mighty edifice.  For now, though, supplies are scant and provisions must be eked out from the array of seeds brought upon the journey.  The chosen spot has a brook, ample woodland and an otherwise flat open plain (once those trees are done with) to farm, or to manage orchards upon.  There is time yet for the Future of Phantoms to make this place an appealing, seductive place to which migrants may come - and then die, and be interred in the catacombs below.

Till the earth!

Post if you want 'dwarfing/humanning', and if you want a turn.  Turns are 1 year affairs, standard overseer setup.

Quote from: Restrictions
This is a human temple, not a dwarf fortress.  Humans can't really live underground for extended periods of time the way dwarves can.  With this in mind:

+ Nearly everything has to be aboveground.  Workshops, sleeping quarters, the temple itself.

+ Basements beneath buildings for storage may be belowground, with a footprint no larger than the building above.  There is a tentative limit of -3z on how deep you can dig basements.

+ Obviously, mines can be underground.  No need to mess up our lovely surface with strip mining.

+ You may put dungeons (as in, places to keep/torture prisoners) underground as well.

+ Finally, the catacombs of the temple can (and should) be underground.  Overground burial space should be at a premium, with the majority of burials happening in the deep recesses of the catacombs.  The catacombs may be trapped and used as an emergency burrows in the event of attack, as well.

+ Vampires are an exception to the 'must live aboveground' rule.  If you figure out a vampire, you can restrict them to an underground burrow in a crypt if you really want.
Quote from: Core Goals
+ A cathedral in service to Oce Cleanblossoms, the Future of Phantoms.  Does not necessarily have to be Christian cathedral shaped, but 'big' and 'lots of glass' are requirements.  Sand is available locally, as is clay.

+ Underground catacombs, (optional overground crypts and burial plots in specially reserved holy cemetery ground) with every sapient creature that dies within the fort's boundaries interred or memorialised there.

+ Kill lots of people.  The more burials the more pleased the Future of Phantoms wil be.  Ritual sacrifice is entirely permitted, both of enemies and friends.
Quote from: Power Goals
+ Benedictine: The party embark with 30 grape seeds, and I will try to bulk those numbers up however possible.  Expand the vinyards to make wine one of our primary exports.

+ Dedicate lesser shrines (or whole buildings) to the other deities in the Stabbing pantheon.

+ Piss off everyone.  Get strong enough, then murder on a grand scale.  The Future of Phantoms demands more blood!

Can I request a humanning as a male Weaponsmith whenever you get it set up? I'm hoping he'll make an artifact, then I can have him join the military and spread the blessings of Oce Cleanblossoms to the heretics.

Drone, Beirus, would you be opposed to being dwarfed as an initial Woodcutter and Mason who go over to farming/smithing later on?  There's more slots in the initial 7.

Also, slight delayed start as the cable on my laptop is broken (on gf's pc) and need to wait for a new one.

What mods are you using to run a human fort? I'll take a turn as long as it isn't Masterwork as I can't run that.

Standard DF, I've just altered the entity_default file to give humans everything except strand extraction (no working with shiny blue for them!).  Pumps, traps, even magma work is all legit.  Just no permanent subterranean settlements.  Hopefully have something up by end of Sunday.
