Human mercenary
« on: January 27, 2015, 08:08:49 pm »

It seems the human caravan who visited my fort years ago decided to settle here.
Their guards also fought the goblins along with my soldiers but there's no way to treat their wounds because they are not part of my civilization.

Do you have some interesting !!science!! idea other than kill and loot them?

They have ran out of ammo.

The Human Crossbowman bashes The Goblin Crossbowman in the head with her ({bronze crossbow}) and the injured part is crushed!
An artery has been opened by the attack!

Wall them off. Seriously. They're a ticking bomb.

Caravan members (even animals) go insane if they stay around for too long.

I'm pretty sure guards are exempt from that mechanic, actually. You could always attempt to capture a werebeast, and get all of the mercenaries infected. That way, you would have immortal shocktroops against the enemy. Of course, the shock value would come from the fact that they would probably refuse to wear clothes after the first transformation, what with not being in your fort, dfHack shenanigans excluded.

Well it has been more than two years so I can safely assume they are not going anywhere.
The caged animals can't starve either. It seems all such timers are stopped.

Is there any dfhack script to make them citizens?

Yes, there is a dfhack command to make them members of your civ, but as they are not dwarves, they are treated as pets, much like, say, tiger men. You can't assign labors to them, or give them rooms. Still, probably worth it. Place cursor over unit, and use "tweak makeown."
