Unable to designate for mining
« on: January 26, 2015, 06:44:36 pm »

Suddenly, I was unable to designate maybe 95% of tiles for mining. Random things (ore, gems) would still designate. Saving and reloading fixed it. Has anybody else had this experience?

You accidentally activated the automine veins feature, by pressing 'a' I believe.  Your designations are also in green, if you hadn't noticed.

Look at the base of the designation panel, there are several new options as of recent release.  The "automine ores/gems" option allows you to designate one tile of a vein and dwarves will continue to add designations to adjacent tiles of the same type until they mine out the vein.

Also, keep pressing "a" to cycle through all the designation options. There are four...or is it five? Anyway, just keep pressing "a" and watch them cycle through. They each have their use (in theory, I've only used two of them myself).

But they never would have given up either. And compared to sitting around in this prison for the rest of my life? Losing is fun.
