Humanity. Since its evolution into sentience it has looked upon the stars, forever admiring its infinite mystery. Many philosophers, great thinkers, and eccentric visionaries always supposed that humanity would one day explore this expanse after most of the known Earth was already explored. They were correct. With the formation of the Solar Governmental, a Trans-Stellar Federal Republic on 31 July 2443, humanity fully realized its fulfilled self-promise to propagate its continuation far from Earth with the advent of Bluespace technology. While SolGov was the de-facto proprietor of humanity besides the Terran Colonial Federation, much of space is either lawless spaces sectors, megacorporative quasi-stellar nations, and Independent star systems. Some groups of people bundle in nomadic star fleets, some even pirates, or even worse- Narsien Occultists. The Wizard Federation also is a small, but deadly loose conglomeration of Warlock states that frequently terrorize the unblessed humans of non-Magi. Non-Species of sentient life also dominate the Universe. Such are the varying migratory fleets of a bird-like species called Vox who are scorned by competing human migratory fleets. Varying Xeno-Humans also exist without different adaptabilities on various planets throughout the cosmos.
You are a citizen aboard the Epsilon Denario 437, a state-of-the-art Mega-Station that declared independence eons ago from the defunct Terran Commonwealth in 2376. Epsilon Denario 437 has enjoyed 174 years of quiet prosperity in relative peace. The markets were always burstling, much income was gathered from taxing refueling Spacers, Industry in all sectors was also booming. The inhabitants were joyous and very metropolitan. All of that changed suddenly. Now you must survive the horror that entombed this once great paradise.
What was the threat that struck the Station?
1) Usually when the station gets caught in a meteor shower, it seldomly needs extensive critical repairs considering how LARGE ED-437 was. This time the shower exceeded projected calculations and the station was wrecked non-stop for weeks. Billions have died and the numbers tick on with time every cycle. Breaches mar the planetsized station, with Epsilon Denario almost becoming a near space-hulk. The few remaining citizens have devolved into EVA-suited roving nomads, fighting for much needed sectors of the station that can still support life. Ships to leave the station became almost non-existant as millions fled in panic within the first week of the onslaught.
2) SolGov has increased antagonism toward Epilson Denario over the past years as it becomes more economically valuable. In its bid to gain control of the station, they had embedded sleeper agents within the masses of Epilson Denario to attempt to overthrow the government. The Cell gained much political power over the station, gathering much support of the population as they acquired more influence. Soon they made a bid attempt to overthrow the Epilson Denarian government after the High Chancellor continuously vetoed all motions to join the Colonial Assemnly of SolGov through their proxy political party, People's Hope For A Brighter Space or PHFABS for short. The rebellion has fully wrecked as Partisan violence rages across the sectors of Epilson Denario. PHFABS has seen many other groups fraction off as differing view points put themselves against eachother. Epilson Denario SEC try to restore order and defeat PHFABS as best they can, but no one knows if Epilson Denario could be recovered in time before a Megacorp or SolGov itself takes advantage.
3) It started small. The local Epilson Denario SEC Force unearthed a series of strange murders in some apartments, Bio-Parks, maintenance shafts, and various other shady places. Then suddenly after a few cycles(days) after this people began speaking in a strange tongue. When the Chief Seneschal of Affairs stabbed himself on live Holo-Stream yelling Narsia Kal'dkka. All hell broke loose. Giant mot black, with red crystal dotted creatures began emerging through the station. They killed indiscriminately, anyone not touched by Nar'Sie. The ones who were touched blood Gestalt were fanatical blood zealots of him, killing all non-believers brazenly. The SEC Force was all but overwhelmed. Common citizens must now survive or die from the great Blood Geometer.
4) For some godawful roll of fate, the Wizard Federation has chosen Epilson out all many billions of space stations in the Universe to make sport of. First they were all given guns. The casualties pick up. Then everyone is given magic. Even more destruction. Epilson Denario society degenerates into pure endemic warfare between magical crazed gun toting survivalists. Somehow the station itself is still relatively intact, but very ruined. Long since has the central authority has broken down. To make matters even worse, children born from two Magi-intoned entities guarantee Magi is carried on, which brings Epilson Denario in a never ending cycle of chaos.
5) It was just a normal day cycle aboard the station. People mingled in the streets, maintenance hobos complained as usual, fishernauts began to bring in their hauls of lifeforms from space to serve at the market, and commercial districts flourished as always. Until someone popped. Then the horror began. The Blob was too big by the time a militarized response was organized. The blob had grown exponentially huge in the ZA-K 23 Commercial District. At least victims numbering in the high thousands were either consumed for more resources or became zombies under the host of a blob spore. Its a race against time to escape..But will there even be enough ships to leave? Every passing cycle it expands and grows..
6) Pure gang warfare. Due to being an Independent Mega-Station with an economical GDP numbering in the trillions per Thaler, much is at stake on who has the most influence in it. A large amount of Syndicates began swelling assets, real estate, and gradual power in their particular sectors. Soon the much more larger Syndicalist crime businesses began enlisting various street urchins, maintenance dwellers, mutants, and mercenaries into gangs to fight for their overlord Syndicate's interests. Soon the proxy wars grew all out and the guise that SEC or the ED Government had any control was soon lifted. The unaligned populace is subject to unmitigated terrorism, death, extortion, and many terrible doings by the proxy gangs wanting to exert control. Outside Armament Corporations do not aid in abating the humanitarian crisis, only feed into the conflict by selling cheap retro-Laser Tech to the warring gangs. Its gotten so bad even the Armsdealer corporations are now fighting rival corporations to stomp competition.
7) A tyrannical Changeling hive have usurped all vestiges of the ED Government through mass absorbing and assasination of the ruling class aboard Epilson Denario. Through a lophole regarding the Oath Contracts of the nobilities loyal Retinues, they are forbidden to betray their masters regardless the circumstance. With almost all the nobility replaced, the Changelings who replaced the former government are now fully open about their true nature. Even though Epsilon Denario's SEC Force largely outnumbers every noble families Retinue, even the most basic Retinue footsoldier is equipped with pulse-forced shields and automatic RT4p Laser Carbines. Through this, the cowardly SEC Force allows the Changelings to go about mandating absorption quotas to the unwilling populous. Strict laws are passed, surveillance is at an all time high, high taxes, unreasonable working mandates and freedoms are largely revoked. The new Changeling ruling class, even though adopting human visages, are completely alien in any feeling of emotion, only thinking in cold hard logic. From a free paradise to a dystopic living hell.
8 ) A large nomad fleet has come out of Bluespace infront of the station, halting its wayward movement through space. After a series of rejected hails, Chief Margoc has declared war on the station. He makes his intention to capture the Station as a new capital in his dreams of creaturing a massive Empire to rival SolGov. His first step is to take over Epsilon Denario. If we lose, we lose our honor.
