Larger parties
« on: January 24, 2008, 08:55:00 pm »

Is it possible to adjust the maximum amount of gusy I can have in my group before people start refusing to join me? I really want to get a  few town's worth of drunks behind me and just go on a rampage, killing everything.

Also, this would make a fair fight between 50 drunks and a giant cave spider hilarious.

Only 50 guys, the lag wouldn't be bad.

The combat reports would be long, though. But entertaining to read.

Actually, I think the party limit is proportional to your adventurer's fame.  Either quest completion or skill level factors into it.  Maybe both.

Hmm, so if I complete lots of quests I can get a bigger group?

Ah well, too bad I can't manually edit a setting.

Thanks for the info though.

dump all the guys you pick up in a hamlet or easily view area then go recruit more people. then dump those guys in the same area,
once you hit your full, go back to the area you told everyone to wait, then ask them all to follow you.
they will agree bypassing the companion count limit since their already your companion though you are now technically over the limit of companions and can't pick up any more with out telling the army to wait for you.
it's basically the you can store more stuff in your backpack by picking it off the ground then placing it in your backpack from your hand but on a larger scale.

I guess a super easier solution would be to separate the party with a river and walk your self away until you have no one in your party(checking with the companions list) what way you're companion free to recruit more people to your party, who behind the river(though if you fast travel they will cross the river and meet up with you).

They won't join because you look like you have a huge party, not because you have a huge party.

Oy, I hope supernecros don't become hyper-prevalent.

I have 140 companions and there is no lag, and my cpu is no beast, its a fluffy wambler.

A creature of intellegence has our people learning. The creature is Rumrusher the forum monster. This lovely fiend has informed many in its lust for knowledge.

Just listen to what ol' Rummy has to say. or get alot of kids and raise them up with adventurer childcare.
Which is prehaps more violent than dwarven childcare....

Dwarven childcare involves efforts to keep kids alive and improve various skills/stats.

Adventurer childcare involves telling a bunch of kidnap victims you will rescue them, essentially abandoning them somewhere convenient, then returning later which apparently re-traumatizes them enough* for you to act as a drill sergeant for a bunch of newly recruited child soldiers. You can directly gear them up, though it is a time consuming process, but you have essentially zero control over what they actually do beyond leading them to various locations, which means you will probably lose lots of kids to stray alligator/bear/goblin/troll/dragon fights, most of which will be started by your rabid army of forsaken children.

*"Sure, I'll get you out of here." *they go from prisoner to kid*
"Wait here, I'll be right back, I promise." *comes back an arbitrary time later, they go from kid to recruit*

Wait horrible idea but is it possible to set up a horrible recruitment center where dwarves endanger their kids just so that the local adventurer can 'rescue' them?

Like park a dwarf fort next to a goblin camp run the camp with the kids set outside for goblin snatchers, then retire the fort so that you can jump into adventure mode to recruit the new kids? But by that point you should nickname yourself Big Boss.

You misspelt honorable bro.
And yeah i like the idea, my current adventurer with the kid army actualy came from a dark fortress
Just watch out. Them gobs like to sober and shave dwarves up and that can be a scary sight a shaved sober alchoholic wearing an AA badge. Make me shudder thinking about it.

Anywho I got carried away, make a social fort designed to crank out the children just have a good farm setup and a nice main area where they can all socialise, have the dwarves that hate talking do the work, and force single dwarves to sleep in the same rooms
And as the kids grow up would be good to see the go to goblin school in a school bus minecart.

horrible because the better solution would be to mod the game so you can make a site for kidnapping folks that way you cut out the middleman of having to walk miles deep into a dark fortress/pit to find kids when you could just easily walk to the nano-fort for your source of free companions.

Which reminds me what happens if you unretire a fort that has the snatcher tag would you get access to free kids? Are prisoners counted to the civ or do they not do anything because their not of the same race?
