50 Mid-Spring, 1st Slate
Seven brave souls set out on our journey. We find a small area next to the goblin dark fortress Spidertusk and start to set up our forward outpost.
50 Mid-Spring, 6th Slate
Heinous slush falls from the sky. Many of us begin to despair. We hurry to build some sort of shelter.
50 Mid-Spring, 7th Slate
The unnatural weather continues. The force of the slush is enough to knock us some of us out, and small birds fall dead to the ground.
50 Late Spring, 4th Slate
Normal rain falls clearing the ground of some of the blue slush.
50 Early Winter, 16th Moonstone
We have run out of construction materials. Luckily the one thing this place does have is mud. Everything is going to be built from clay loam now.
Stardate HOLY CRAP IS IT THAT TIME ALREADY?
Our little stronghold now holds nine dwarves, two migrants having joined us a while back. Work is slowly continuing on breaking through the aquifer layer(s).
54 Late Summer, 20th Galena
Another migrant joins us. Our primary defence is dogs, cage traps, and the fact that nobody would want to go to this Armok-forsaken place.
54 Early Autumn, 18th Limestone
The dwarf caravan took one look at this hell hole and went straight back home. Can't say I blame them.
54 Mid-Autumn, 10th Sandstone
One of the miners nearly spoilt my perfect record of keeping dwarves alive by falling into the aquifer. Luckily he struggled out alive.
54 Late Autumn, 9th Timber
We are ready to 'splash down' the first ring.
Oh wait, no we aren't.
54 Late Winter, 10th Obsidian.
OK _this_ time we're ready to 'splash down' the first ring.
Except that someone is sitting directly under the cave-in zone.
Splashdown! It's sort of a success .. except that the shockwave injured a dwarf.
55 Mid-Spring, 3rd Spring.
Nobody died - so I call it a success. There is another layer of aquifer, though, so we will have to use the second ring as well.
55 Mid-Spring, 24th Spring.
Time to drop the second ring of soil down.
55 Mid-Summer, 28th Malachite
The third, and last, aquifer plug is needed. If the aquifer continues further down ... I am not sure what we will do.
55 Late Summer, 19th Galena
Success! It took us over five years, but we have finally pierced the aquifer layers. Without losing a single dwarf. While settled next to a Goblin Fortress. And braving rain that blisters the skin and knocks dwarves out. This seems like a good time to pause.
