Is Gold equipment worthwhile?

Normally it is only available for Artefacts and Furniture.  Browsing through my Metalsmith reveals that it can now be crafted into all manner of armaments.  I have a ridiculous amount of the stuff, and only a few useful bars I snagged from the traders.  How would the weapons & armors compare to a Gemforge?

Blunt weapons are quite fine, edged weapons and armor are terrible.

Gold armor is pretty good as long as you don't plan on anyone wearing it, if you set some up in display stands it'll drastically raise room value wherever you need it to. Of course, if you have lots of otherwise useless artifacts to use instead, those would be more cost-effective.

Golden weapons are nice for traps that you build inside rooms. It raises the value a lot. Thats it. ^^

Gold ammo would be ok too I guess. But no armor... or swords...

i usually have a squad of gold-clad orcs with leader having a artifact or masterwork mace. 4 others have maces and 5 have hammers. i give them bloodsteel chain stuff underneath the gold. mainly symbolic, but kills nearly all enemies.

Ah, good to know that Gold retains its' properties like in weapon traps; good for blunt force, crap for armor and blades.  I guess this means my military will be adopting the bling defense ::)
