as an amusing sidenote, I actually had a hernia repaired over the summer.  They aren't life-threatening under normal circumstances, but if the segment actually gets stuck down there it can get problematic.  I'd say, since the cat is old, just keep an eye on the hernia.

Also, as ShadowHammer said, I AM NOT A MEDICAL EXPERT, NOR IS MY STATEMENT INTENDED TO DIAGNOSE OR TREAT ANY DISEASE!

That's a bit needly, Moogie. There's no reason to believe that behind the suspicious paywall lies the information needed, especially given how shady the site looks.
I just wanted to know, how does a site look shady?

So, my cat has a bulge on its stomach. It's a soft 'mass' that seems to be able to be pushed in, so not a tumour or fatty growth or whatever. From my google-fu, I'm thinking hernia. She's had it a year, probably longer. I was worried about it back then and talked about it on bay12lb and some guy told me I should put my cat down or give it away or something. She doesn't seem to be in any pain, still eats and runs around causing havoc. She sneezes a lot. I hope it's sneezes, not coughs, because apparently coughing in cats is really bad, but how do you tell the difference? Eh.

I would take her to a vet for this, but I am poor and the cat is very shy. It took me years to even get her to be comfortable with me. It also doesn't seem to be harming her, but I could be wrong.

Life Questions:

1. What to do with a cat with a bulge?
2. How to tell the difference between a cat cough and a cat sneeze?

My dog had one, It was benign. However, I recommend tlking to a vet before you make a decision.
