"Unintended feature" is the definition of a bug, it's a result of the programming that is not meant to be there.

Nah, a bug is when their is a hiccup in the code.  Everything is working as it should here.  The system just wasn't thought through fully... its a flaw but not a bug.  A bug is when you fix caravan speed and it causes arrows to move at the speed of a geriatric quadriplegic.  A flaw is when dwarves never stop getting stressed by injuries that aren't supposed to heal.  Legs aren't supposed to grow back.  Injuries cause stress.  High amounts of stress over years causes a dwarf to snap.  All of the programming is working as it should.  All this progamming is supposed to be here.  its just not fair how the rules play together.

Its a balancing issue not a bug.

That may be true, but the bug report will allow a response detailing whether this is intended, and bring the balancing issue to Toady's attention. If it gets marked Resolved and is working as intended, we'll at least know about it.

Dwarven wine is a little bit like good chicken soup:  solid at room temperature.

Being paralyzed/unable to work could certainly lead to insanity and depression in dwarven society. But the degree of the injury and the personality of the dwarf should be factours. A dwarf highly devoted to his work who loses the ability to work might go insane, but a dwarf with a different personality might cope just fine.

The bug page now shows resolved and fixed in next version. I wonder exactly what was changed.
