Best Screenshot Site?
« on: December 31, 2014, 07:18:50 pm »

Are there any image sites I should choose over others for my screenshots?  I've heard that some don't work well when linked.  I normally use photobucket.

imgur has never let me down. I haven't had an image go down since I started using it years ago, and to my knowledge all of my images are still hosted there, long after I first uploaded them. I really don't understand why so many people insist on using poor image hosts. I often see missing avatar images on the forums here. I've even had images that I haven't linked to for years still active, even though they haven't had anybody viewing them.

Tinypic is working well for me so far. I'm still keeping backups of anything I upload, but that's just me being paranoid about that sort of thing.

Isn't Photobucket the one which puts up a "Bandwidth Exceeded, Buy Pro" notice in place of images after they're viewed too many times?

Tinypic is pretty terrible too, your pics expire really quickly.

Also, any random person can put tags on your images.

I just help by putting "don't use tinypic" in the tags whenever I see an untagged image.

Really? My pictures are all still up even after almost 2 years since uploading.

Is there any reason I should care about the tags?

If you have a deviantART account, you can store up to 2GB of data in your Sta.Sh. I've used Sta.Sh for a year now, and despite uploading over a hundred pictures to it, I still have 1.9GB~ of space left and not a single image has ever been deleted from it. The organization is also nice, and people can only view your images if you send them the link to a specific image or folder. Oh, and you can upload ANY kind of file to your Sta.Sh, not just images.

Also, please do not use Photobucket. Ever. Trying to download images from Photobucket is a pain in the butt and it doesn't work on slower connections like mine. Literally everything else is better than Photobucket.
