How long do your adventurers usually last?
« on: January 11, 2015, 11:29:44 pm »

I've never really had an adventurer last more than one play session and thought that was what was expected. Recently though I read the thread about burying companions and somebody mentioned playing one adventurer for weeks. This made me wonder how common such things are. So, how long do your adventurers usually last?

Its a feature. Impregnating booze is a planned tech tree for dwarves and this is a sneak peek at it.

In game, generally 5 hours if I play it safe and don't make a stupid mistake. Around a week real-life because I generally don't play that often as I have other things to do as well. I think 20 hours in-game is my record, but I was using an exploit that practically made me invincible. Legit record: 7 hours, many of which were spent stuck slowly traveling, lost in the wilderness until I fell in a river that promptly froze over.

About as long as I want them to, if I'm playing a demigod.

In adv. mode, time passes slowly when you pay attention to it. I play adventurer when I do not have any particular idea of what to do next in fortmode. Adventure mode is relaxing and refreshing. Then the longest adventure lasted for approximately a season (in-game).

Usually an indefinite amount of time, since I just about never pick them back up after a session and I savescum the most stupid deaths (like getting my skull bashed in because I passed out from pain during a 1v1 fight due to a broken ankle despite having fixed the bone pain values). A session ranging from a couple of in-game days to a couple of in-game weeks.

With very few early splats because I have a solid setup process.

Once lived for about a year in Dwarf time.
That was one BORING trek through the mountains.
And underground.
And then across the wastelands.
And the mountains again.
Still going.

Anywhere between a few real-life minutes and hours.
Depends on the character and how bored I am.
For whatever reason, my outsiders last longer than my other characters, mostly because I steal iron knives.

Generally, less than a Dwarf Fortress day.
The vast majority of my adventurers bite off more than they can chew on their first adventure.

Happens to me, too, but my adventurers last a couple days.
Once, one killed two night creatures before getting ambushed by some bandits, which was his end.

Cautiously played, either to an arbitrary/temp retirement in hillock (10 to 20 fight schedule), or more commonly idled out/new world regenned. Quite fun.

Recklessly played, death could come at anytime. Most fun.

Small/pocket world test guys, always. Oddities.
