Is there any way of freeing children from goblin cages if they are not actually taken off the map?

It seems the child object becomes a bag that just sits around doing nothing.

I'm having the same problem. Goblins came, I squishied them. The thing is before I could squishy them they threw some children in bags. My genius dwarves decided to take the bags to the furniture stockpile where the children remain. They seem quite content, yet they are very thirsty and would really like a drink.

How do I get them out of there?

P.S. I have another problem with raccoons stealing floodgates... yes, a giant stone floodgate. I find this more humorous than annoying but shouldn't these furry little bastards not be able to lift a thousand some pounds in stone?

Sadly, you don't. The only solution for their bagged misery, is to chasm them. Just like you throw kittens in the river.

Maybe its tanuki raccons, and they transformed themselves into giants.

Well, if this isn't going to be fixed, could they at least allow you to sell the bagged children to traders?

Stealing children isn't my style and in no way do I support it. Selling children on the other hand is a good way to make some profit

I read on the Penny Arcade forum that bagged childeren can be set free if you bring them to the trade depot.

Captain is correct. Ive done that to free several of my imprisioned brats. Trick is getting the right bags to the depot.
