Attend Party
« on: December 30, 2014, 04:39:55 am »

What makes a dwarf more likely to organize or attend parties? Is it a personality preference, do they get an urge to do so if they haven't socialized enough?
Do parties ever end on their own?

Every place where Dwarfes met can cause two things. Happyness and Parties.
Only way to prevent parties is to remove all meeting places, but that's rather. Elvish...

Parties start and end as they come, can be annoying yes. Childs tend to cause the most parties,
so that's something you can avoid. By burrowing them somewhere else for example...
Oh yeah, and a working swarf wont throw parties either.
Or simple life with it.

The most efficient way to prevent children from distracting the working dwarves is to put them into a daycare, by the way. The most recent design by Staalo trains dwarven children to be legendaries in swimmer, fighter, dodger and I think armor user too.

As soon as a dwarf starts a part I lock them into the room. I end up with three dwarfs trapped in the sculpture garden for a week but it stops the others getting distracted.

I just use meeting area zones instead of defining rooms as meeting halls. Dwarves only party in the latter.

That.

Also don't make statue rooms or zoos either. Else have fun deconstructing the building every time dwarves makes parties.

you dont need to deconstruct... just un-designate... Make the statue / table / whatever you are going to have be the anchor for the room, out of a different color material, so you can see it faster when you need to stop a party

meh, depending on who attens Ill stop them.  In 34 only my mature forts would have idlers and unless those idlers were specifically needed elsewhere Id let them socialize.  Maybe get married, who knows?  A woman who does a keg stand every time shes thirsty is pretty appealing . . .
