Arbitrarely caged dwarf
« on: December 29, 2014, 12:18:21 pm »

 Greetings fellow overlords.
For some mysterious reason, one of my dwarves has been caged, despite not appearing in the justice screen and that I only have ropes assigned for justice. Could anyone help me on this?

Or you could just let the children roam free and natural selection will take care of them.
I'm now picturing an elf wrestler trying to suplex my battlements.

It could be possible that he fell into a cage trap, if you have any.
Dwarves only fall if they get knocked onto a trap IIRC.

SHOOOOOOTGUUUUUUNNNN~!

...

Oh, you're asking how he got there? Perhaps he took a nap near a cage trap, possibly assisted with some cave-in dust.

Possible, my fort is full of the things.
Also, there were cave ins, but far away.
Anyways, how do I free him?
And is it a bug that he feels guilty, even though his confinement was not crime related?

Build the cage (b-j, e"x"pand view to find the "dwarf cage" if necessary). Once built, "q"uery the cage and "unassign" the contained dwarf. Someone should come around and release them.

He likely dodged or was otherwise launched in some manner into the cage trap, setting it off. I can't remember if the dwarf needs to be unconscious at that exact moment for the cage trap to go off or not but I think it may be so. I remember losing one of my greatest legendary fighters that way in an older version of the game. I found the poor bastard moments from starving to death in the cage. Sadly, it was too late to save him. The best I could puzzle together was he had been flung into the cage during sparring after colliding with a moving power distribution axle.
