Dwarfs not using nor storing things in trade depot

Unless I build something nothing in the trade depot is put into a stockpile or used.

Well maybe you can build a new one and remove the old one so everything inside will be available.

My experience is that dorfs are very sluggish when it comes to moving stuff from the trade depot to their stockpiles, but there is actually some activity, even though it might not be sufficient to clear out the depot before the next year's caravan.

I haven't tried the newest version, but at least in 40.19, my dorfs were happy to remove things from the depot.
Just make sure you have enough stockpiles which accept the goods. They only stop moving them when the corresponded stockpiles are full.

Well, again, I mean in 40.19.

If the goods are dropped from scuttled wagon, sometimes dwarves wouldn't haul them until the caravan decides to leave.
