Dwarven? No verbs, pronouns etc!
« on: March 20, 2015, 04:26:26 pm »

Hello. I was just going to translate some songs from English and some other languages to Dwarven. But I stopped translating; reason is in Topic Name (Subject). Please help.

And well, I think that's great idea. We will be able to use Dwarven as a language that we can speak freely (I hope). If you have any Idea, please tell me.

P.S.: Sorry for my (potentially) bad English.

If you have played adventure mode, you would have noticed that all four speaking races speak English. Their unique languages only appear in names.

Dwarvish, elvish, goblinese, humanian, are all dead languages that survive only as root in name.

It is hard to create an entire dictionary I suppose.

It is hard to create an entire dictionary I suppose.

Especially because you would have to create a grammar system too.

Of course I played. But I see the translation. Maybe there is an international interracial language. And think please how can dwarves, goblins, point-eared hippies elves know the language they CAN'T KNOW ABOUT?

People! Let's make these words ourselves!

Frankly speaking, I'm not sure if the last name is meant to be translated, and I doubt that dwarves really understand dwarvish.

The translation is rather an etymology.

I'd suggest taking a look here: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=147824.0

I don't know if it's still ongoing but a group of people were working on a Dwarven language.
