Being three or four player games on one console and being fun, of the sort where you can play a 15-30 minute game. Of course, I can't think of any sports which pit more than two teams against each other.

I know nothing about the gameplay of the various sports games franchises that exist now. The last sports games I played were Commodore 64 games in the late 80s or early 90s (Summer Games, Winter Games, etc). Thinking about it, that's the kind of competitive sports game which would work with more than two players.

Of course, IIRC I preferred playing other multiplayer games instead (Mule, Archon and Archon II, Spy vs Spy and Spy vs Spy 2, Lords of Conquest).
