Animal breeding in the new version
« on: December 19, 2014, 03:21:17 pm »

So, with the change to breeding distance in the new version...has anyone had issues expanding their animal population? I usually make a good sized underground soil pasture for all of my livestock, but having played the new version some, I'm finding that breeding is very slow this way now (likely due to pasture size and animals not being adjacent to one another often). Maybe I haven't really been playing it long enough; the fort is only about 4 years old now.

I know I can simply take a couple females and a male and put them in a much smaller pasture, to ensure babies get made. Will I have to make that a regular thing? All thoughts/experiences welcome.

As far I can tell, it's just matter of keeping them in the same pasture, they will get adjacent to each other very often.

I suppose keeping all the animals in the same pasture will not slow down contact between males and females, yes.

There should be an attraction of males by females, really.
