Water, WTF?!
« on: December 14, 2014, 11:19:05 am »

Since which update does water move so blazingly fast? I hoped that my miner would be quick enough to escape after opening up the reservoir to temporarily drain it, but apparently, definitely not.

0.40.19, and I remember that in the previous version water moved rather slowly when piped.

Edit: I just realized that because of the draining from the base of a 10x10x3 reservoir, the pressure got so high that the water literally shotgunned through the drain pipe. But seriously, that pressure on three layers of water? Isn't that a bug?

pressure is a boolean, a 3 levels high reservoir has the same pressure as the bottom of the Mariana trench as far as DF is concerned

Remember kids, dig in from a diagonal to keep water pressure from being a problem!

This, it'll drain a bit slower but a slower water flow and a live dwarf is more valuable than a faster flow and a dead dwarf....

You missed a bit. Floodgates are superseded by doors for most applications, with bridges superior if you are worried about the controlled obstacle jamming.
