Mod question: Adding Entities
« on: December 12, 2014, 03:32:43 pm »

I am right now trying to add the Tolkien-Elves as entities to the maingame, using (for now) a copy of CREATURE:ELF as creature file. I did ENTITY:SINDAR today, but they won't appear ingame as civilization or as entity. (they are set to be playable in fortress mode, so I can play them - yes, I actually do play elves, don't drown me in magma)
Instead, the Elves now started to sell steel swords.
I guess my mistake lies somewhere in the civilisations, the Sindar appear ingame as elvish, though I changed their name in the creature file. How are the names of civilisations created in world gen, and most important, what lines and/or files are used?

do you now have multiple instances of creature:elf? Because that will break stuff.

Multiple instances of an object with the same ID can cause issues within the game. This is known as "raw duplication", and may be a part of the issue.

Otherwise, it may help to see the raws that you have created or modified. In this case either your elf copy or your entity.

It may also help to check your errorlog.
