DwarfFortress.exe has stopped working

Im repeatedly getting this message then the game closes and it it very frustrating, does anyone have a fix?

Did you use "large address aware" on the DF exe file?
My game sometimes crashes during play if I forget to do that after upgrading to a new version.

If that isn't it, what does your error log say? It can be a lot of different things and you are playing vanilla right?
