when i first started, i was constantly attack from necromancers to goblins ambushes to titans, and now that i know a lot more, for my past few play through, i almost never get attacked.... i got "lucky" and had some action when a weretabir attack, but it was easy. is there triggers? i know 80 pop and so much worth, but i am at 125 dorfs and 947,523 worth. and not a single goblin, in the past 2 play through i made sure that my only neibors were goblins but i get dwarf caravans but no goblins

so i end up starting new playthrough from bordom. i know i can dig down but i want surface battles to be honest

I had the same problem.   There is a thread with the advice I got one or two pages back, but I will summerize for you. 

Just wait a bit longer.  3-5 years minim.

If you made sure you had goblin neighbours before embark then they should show up.

This is probably the main thing; it's not enough for them to just be listed as neighbors, you have to make sure they actually have access to your site. You might be fairly close to them distance-wise, but on the other side of a mountain range, or behind loads of other settlements that they'd attack instead. Since they're now actual armies that move around the world, instead of just popping into existence for your fortress' benefit, they've got to actually get to you before they can attack.

It's a change I like in theory, but in practice I think it needs tweaking to make them more likely to attack you; I'm finding that you just never get attacked unless you intentionally embark right next to the goblins.
